Department of Pharmacy Administration and Clinical Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Administration and Clinical Pharmacy was founded in 2000, which was composed of the former Teaching Offices of Pharmacy Administration & Clinical Pharmacy. The Department has 9 affiliated hospitals and 20 teaching bases of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy administration. There are 7 full-time faculty members in the department, including one professor, three associate professors and three lecturers, as well as more than 100 part-time members. Three of these faculty members are doctorial supervisors and 21 are master’s supervisors. In 2002, the International Research Center for Peking University Medical Management (IRCMA), an affiliation of the department, was established. The positions of IRCMA director and deputy directors were held by the chief of the department and the directors of the pharmacy departments of affiliated hospitals. In order to train qualified clinical pharmacy professionals, the department is dedicated to establishing and promoting an educational framework which is suitable for China. We have been performing an in-depth reform on the teaching system, pedagogy and curriculum of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy management. The department has launched corporation with many pharmacy schools in high-income countries, and has established a teaching system with an international vision. Currently, we have several training programs in place, including doctoral program of pharmacy (3~5-year graduate program), the master’s program of pharmacy (2~3-year graduate program), the master’s program of pharmaceutical sciences (6-year graduate program), and the master’s program of pharmaceutical sciences (3-year graduate program). All the programs include two directions, i.e. clinical pharmacy and pharmacy administration. The department offers a total of 24 theoretical courses for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. It sets up three practice courses for clinical pharmacy and two for pharmacy administration. We have built a closely integrated teaching system of both theory and practice by combining the internet and simulation teaching methods. We also have built a clinical skill teaching center to strengthen the practice evaluation in order to improve the teaching quality. Our research focuses on drug policy and development strategy of the pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical regulation and supervision techniques, hospital pharmacy administration, settings of clinical pharmacy practice system, pharmaco-economics, drug information systems, pharmaceutical care and its evaluation system, pharmacogenomics and precise medication research, as well as the early stage clinical trial of new medication and review and approval policy research. In the recent five years, we have published more than 500 articles on domestic and international journals, been awarded more than 100 projects at national/provincial levels, including “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” National Key Innovation Project of Precise Treatment, “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” and “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” National Key Projects, NSFC and BSFC, etc.
